With Dave away, Ryan would take to Donington on his own, albeit with a few helpers on hand. After a clean qualifying session, he found himself sitting 10th on the grid, 2nd in Class B from a strong field of 34. The start of the race was full of the usual excitement and as he dropped down through the Craner curves, Ryan had a bit of a slide, only to save it with a little tap against the side of the Simpson Peugoet. Fortunately neither car suffered and both continued on their merry way.
A strong first stint and a decent enough pitstop saw him emerge battling for 4th with the #888 Civic of Andrew Windmill and our arch rival and good friend Tom Mensley in the #18 Clio. By the time the flag dropped, Andrew had dropped way back after having to make a 2nd pitstop and Tom had pulled away a little.
Over the line, Ryan pipped the #62 Peugoet of Colin & Steve Simpson by a little over a second to 5th place. Unfortunately, after the race, a 30 second penalty was given for an unsafe release during the pitstop and Ryan fell back to 6th in the classification but this didn’t make much difference as a great fun race was had and the car showed really good pace throughout. Next up is Oulton Park.
