The first race of the 2015 season and we’re back at our local circuit again, Silverstone. Once again we will be taking on the National configuration with CSCC Tin Tops. The car has had a few improvements since this time last year and it’s a good opportunity to see how the car has improved. With Dave now out in China, Ryan and Rob would be partnering up for this one and probably every race this year!
Qualifying went well, despite getting a slap on the wrist for not turning the engine off during the driver change. We managed to pull out a 1:08.466, which is already a full second up on last year’s fastest race lap! We would start 8th on the grid, 1st in Class B.
The race started well and Ryan made it up to 4th place. After the round of pit stops, we were still in 4th place, but Tom Mensley in the other Class B Clio was actually leading the race after an incredible turn around in the pits and a lot of consistently fast laps. Rob continued to push, but it was all in vein as the clutch decided to fail just 7 laps from the end of the race. A disappointing end to the weekend, but the car is showing good pace and we must look ahead to the next race.
